"did i just say, 'IF i were a boy...?"

one of my favorite pass times or ways to relax is to hang out with my friends. monica always brings the snacks, rachel lets me borrow her clothes, phoebe brings out my inner hippie, ross enlightens me on topics i could care less about, joey shares my love for eating all day every day, and chandler; well, chandler gets me and my sarcasm.

wait, you have friends with the same names? such a small world we live in!

since friends has started streaming on netflix there are so many articles going around about the show, especially chandler and his funny quotes. i saw this article the other day and was loling.

if chandler bing quotes were motivational posters... some of my favorites:

i just love this show and i love that no matter how many times i watch it, it never gets old! what are some of your favorite friends quotes?

tale of the hushpuppies

i got attacked. i got a attacked by birds at a restaurant we frequent often in FWB while strangers laughed and video taped me. i got attacked by birds who stole and ate my hush puppies, stepped in my coleslaw, and then followed me around and touched me.

i will never not be scared of this experience. let me set the scene for you and share with you this disgusting story.

it was a lovely day, beautiful weather, i had just finished my semester and mother and i were having a wonderful lunch with her old high school pal. unfortunately, said friend's father had just passed away so we had just finished putting the final touches on her father's funeral plans and were trying to have a nice lunch on the beach to relax. the birds did not get the memo.

we have been going to this restaurant for as long as i can remember. the food has gotten worse and the prices have gotten higher and yet we still go all the time. i was minding my own business, counting down the bites i had left of my salad until i could eat the best and final part of my meal - the hush puppies; all of a sudden i feel a soft brush touch my cheek, it all happened so quickly, i had no time to think or react. there were dozens, it felt like hundreds of birds attacking me and my meal. i duck and run across the porch, look up and see a grown man with his iPhone LAUGHING and RECORDING the experience. i look back at the table in time to see mother and her friend running from the table and to see the final bird, pick my giant hush puppy up in its tiny little beak and fly away. i could've cried.

our waitress returned from inside, "that's so weird, i've never seen that happen before" she said. "cool. BRING ME SOME MORE HUSH PUPPIES"

the rest of the meal i sat indian style in my seat, spraying any bird that came within 10 feet of me with some squirt bottle the waitress handed me. those birds would not let up. eventually we left and i almost wanted to burn my clothes but rest assured, i washed them and myself immediately.

the rest of the relaxing break in florida was just that- relaxing. this is a photo of mother and i at another one of her high school friend's condo. this picture doesn't do this view justice.

my first thought is "what's for dinner"

since every post needs a picture, enjoy this one of the beautiful campus i get the privilege of attending (thanks mom & dad!)

i came across this article the other day, 22 thoughts every girl has when walking to class.

i, personally, can relate to just about every thought that they wrote. my favorites being...

7. Okay, this class ends at 9:50 and it takes me 7 minutes to walk home, which would be 9:57, and my next class is at 11:30. But I have to leave for class at 11:19, which means I can nap for exactly 1 hour and 22 minutes.
17. Why do people walk so slow?
2. I'm hungry.
9. How do some girls look so cute at this hour?
21. I'm hungry.

i mean... honestly? it's like i wrote the article! just the other day i was walking to my 9:30, i got out of my 8am early and usually on those days i'll go wait in the longest line of the world to get a peppermint hotchocolate at the unofficially largest starbucks in the nation but i just wasn't feeling the wait that day. so i stopped in at the library snack bar, grabbed myself a nutrigrain bar and a gatorade. i couldn't wait till i got to my next class so i started eating and walking; easy enough, right? WRONG! i got strawberry jelly ALL. OVER. my hands, i casually decide to slip the rest of the bar in my frocket* to finish after i get to my building and i manage to get strawberry jelly all on the inside of my frocket while it was wrapped up in it's wrapper... (i should probably wash that shirt soon...)

where was i going with this story? OH YEAH, as i'm casually walking with my hands in fists so that i don't get the jelly anywhere else on me, i think to my self, "how many people just witness that fiasco?" probably no one but i have witnessed some funny things walking to class. maybe that should be the odyssey's next article, funny things you see on the way to class.

shake it off

confession: i like taylor swift's new cd.

i can't help it! the more i listen to it the more i CAN. NOT. stop. i'm sure y'all have heard her famous shake it off by now. that one, sucks me in every time. the plus side is that i didn't have to pay for it (sorry taylor) my roommate bought both the itunes version and the bonus cd at target so she burned a copy for me, love ya park.

if you haven't already, just go ahead and watch this video of an 80's workout video that times perfectly with her shake it off. clearly i know what my new morning routine is going to consist of.

and if you want the normal music video, here ya go. taylor swift's: shake it off

ellen: here & now

as i was scrolling down my dvr on sunday, i ran across ellen's here and now. i obviously pressed play and procrastinated my studying a little longer and remember the whole video explains my whole life perfectly.

a few of my favorite quotes:

We stock up on popcorn and candy like we're crossing the Sierras, don't we? "I'll have a couple of soft pretzels, a hot dog, Milk Duds, Snowcaps. Is that the largest popcorn you've got there, that bucket? You don't have a barrel or anything like that? Do you have a donkey or a pack mule or anything? - Oh, and a Diet Coke."

When there's time for whistling, there's a lot of time on a show.

Our attention span is shot. We've all got Attention Deficit Disorder or ADD or OCD or one of these disorders with three letters because we don't have the time or patience to pronounce the entire disorder. That should be a disorder right there, TBD - Too Busy Disorder.

They do these teases to get you to watch late on. They're so incredibly cruel: 'It could be the most deadly thing in the world and you may be having it for dinner. We'll tell you what it is tonight at 11:00.' IS IT PEAS?!

Procrastination is not the problem. It is the solution. It is the universe's way of saying stop, slow down, you move too fast. Listen to the music. Whoa whoa, listen to the music. Because music makes the people come together, it makes the bourgeois and the rebel. So come on people now, smile on your brother, everybody try to love one another. Because what the world needs now is love, sweet love. And I know that love is a battlefield, but boogie on reggae woman because you're gonna make it after all. So celebrate good times, come on. I've gotta stop I've gotta come to my senses, I've been out riding fences for so long... oops I did it again... um... What I'm trying to say is, if you leave tonight and you don't remember anything else that I've said, leave here and remember this: Procrastinate now, don't put it off.

just basically the whole hour is my favorite, the cell phone bit, the elevator talk, the claws, the tripping, the pickle and chip comparisons... i just love it and in case you just need to watch it for yourself, here's the link to it on youtube. ellen's here and now

road to 16

happy wednesday!

hopefully this week will fly by since we had monday off and in only 2 wake ups it will be friday! my parents are coming this weekend for family weekend and my mom said she is planning on cooking for me on saturday so that will be yummy!

this past weekend i went to atlanta to kick off football season with my brother and a few of our friends. it was a great weekend and so fun to get to see everyone! we went bowling friday night at the painted pin and i came in third! then saturday we watched to tide beat the mountaineers with a 33-23 win!

and i want to wish my little muffin a very happy birthday who turned 13 this week!!

it's a party in the usa

so i went to the miley concert about two weeks ago and it was one of the best concerts i've been to in my life, the other best concert being last time i saw miley on tour. i took my favorite kristin with me and we went for "round 2" birthday celebration. i call this "round 2" because these tickets were a 21st birthday present from my wonderful parents and we were supposed to go in april, however, we were the first of her many cancelled tour dates so it was a kinda really bad plane ride back to tuscaloosa but besides that part, the rest of that weekend was fun!

but back to this visit, it was for sure worth the wait! she even fessed up and admitted that she wasn't sick when she cancelled on us last time and i think that it was just mature of her in general to admit she messed up. her opening act was lily allen, kristin and i listened to some of her songs the night before the concert and we didn't really care for her - but after that night i am obsessed. she was so cute and performed so well live, like she sounds better live than on her tracks.

miley, of course, is one of the best performers i know, people question why i like her and all i say to them is that yeah she's a little crazy and a wack job but you can't say she's not a good performer, she really knows how to entertain; and entertain she did that night. so enough with the blabbing... here's some pictures from one of the bests nights of my life.

thanks mom and dad!!

and shout out to kristin for making me try salmon for the first time!

ten thoughts tuesday

i thought i would start a new thing here at mb&yp. ten thoughts tuesday. every tuesday i am going to post 10 thoughts about whatever i'm feeling that day. i'd like for y'all to join in, either in the comments or on your own blog! so for today's ten thoughts tuesday i am blogging about ten thoughts that go through my head during the 55 minutes of pure torture people like to call pure barre. i have a serious love/hate relationship with pure barre, but it's mainly love with a hint of hate.

1. 5 minutes to class, still time to bail
2. oh no, *insert strict teacher's name* is teaching today
3. here we go; lift the legs, point the toes
4. don't fall over, don't fall over, don't fall over
5. yes, the seat exercise on the floor. time to pretend i'm doing the moves when i'm actually just laying       here trying not to pass out
6. stop pushing me down farther, i can only go so far in my split
7. oh this is my jam, wait it's the remix one... no it's going too fast. "...i'm gonna make a change, for           once in my life...gonna feel real good, gonna make a difference..."
8. yes! they are turning the lights off, time for cool down
9. man that was a great class, i'm so glad i came today!
10. ow, ow, ow, ow, ow

what are your ten thoughts for today? leave a comment below telling me at least one, i'd love to hear!
happy tuesday, it's almost hump day!!

somebody has to say it

tuscaloosa needs a fazoli's.

my friends and i are addicted to a local hole in the wall japanese restaurant here in tuscaloosa. and though we love it and visit it about two to three times a week, we crave some fast food italian. back home we have a good ole fazoli's and i spent many an afternoon there talking for hours with friends back in high school. it was divine. i often made my sister go with me and i still talk about it constantly. i have been craving fazoli's for a good couple of weeks now. their mouth watering, bad for you garlic sticks make my mouth drool just thinking about it. i finally had an epiphany; why is there not a fazoli's in tuscaloosa? they could make so much money here and take our student bama cash. i would spend a pretty penny there, and hopefully the same case would apply at fazoli's like when i told the workers at my fav japanese restaurant. "y'all should write a thank you note to my parents for them keeping you guys in business" they laughed and responded "really though!" (oh i love them so)

so there. i said it. it is now out in the open. can anyone get me a fazoli's?

one of those weeks

happy thursday! it's my friday today which makes me so happy!

i stumbled across this video the other day on facebook. which by the way, all of a sudden people are reposting all these links to their pages, its like the bumper stickers of 2014! i may have spent way too many hours finding the perfect ones to send to my friends.

anyyy whosies, i watched this video and was rolling with laughter, his frustration reminded me of how i felt this week. it's about that time in the semester when all of my teachers assign huge projects due on the same day and tests on the same day and it's just so frustrating! i feel like this guy, i start on one assignment and i make it to my goal and then it's like NOPE keep going you have even more work to do and i have to start all over. obviously i know that this is what college is but i'm just so ready for spring break, which is only 14 days away. i'm not counting down the seconds or anything

do any of you have any favorite hilarious youtube videos? post a comment below with the link because i could use a little more procrastination material, said no college student ever.

have a great rest of your thursday!!
